Due to structural and cultural discrimination, persons living with disabilities face particular challenges on the labour market all over the world. Nepal is no exception.
This project therefore aims to empower one hundred persons living with disabilities from Lalitpur (Kathmandu Valley) and the remote and disadvantaged North-West of Nepal to lead (more) independent lives and become economically active. A mix of measures, from trainings to better cope with everyday challenges up to qualifications for different professions is implemented.
The project was developed in close cooperation with PHASE Nepal as well as the Independent Living Center Lalitpur (ILC), a self-help organisation led by persons with disabilities with long-standing experience.
The ILC will be included by assigning a project coordinator from its staff to PHASE Nepal, who will be responsible for project implementation. Organisational responsilbility and accounting will lie with PHASE Nepal as this organisation has the necessary experience and resources.
We would like to thank the City of Vienna for their generous funding for this project!
