Following the School Access for Disadvantaged Children in Humla, which also highlighted the deplorable lack of any learning materials, or even furniture or flooring, in the local schools, PHASE Austria decided to fund material support to improve the learning environments of the schools in two of the three project villages, Melchham and Jair (in Maila, PHASE had already achieved this within the budget of the School Access programme).

We provided white boards, mats for flooring, sitting cushions and teaching and learning materials for 10 schools in the two communities. The total cost was 12,500 Euros, with, as always in the region, transport making up a large part of the budget (more than 25%)
